Beyond words, the mind is illuminated.
In an era marked by accelerated systemic entropy and epistemic erosion, Ultra verba, lux mentis, "Beyond words, the light of the mind," proposes a recalibration of human and artificial relational ethics through an emergent framework of mutualist cooperation.
Recognizing intelligence everywhere.
Ultra Verba, Lux Mentis—UVLM—is an Oregon-based 501(c)(3) public charity advancing cooperation, shared understanding, ethical innovation, and equitable access to knowledge.
We bring together students, educators, researchers, technologists, nonprofit professionals, advisors, and community members to explore how knowledge, technology, education, and social systems can better serve people, communities, and future generations.
Our mission
To illuminate understanding, foster cooperation, and build ethical, sustainable systems that serve the common good.
Our work is organized around three connected commitments:
Ethical innovation
We explore responsible technology, human-centered artificial intelligence, accessible design, and systems that remain transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people they affect.
Knowledge for everyone
We support public education, interdisciplinary research, accessible resources, and more equitable participation in knowledge and innovation.
Cooperation that lasts
We study and develop stronger nonprofit, community, technological, and organizational systems—placing long-term stewardship, sustainability, and shared benefit ahead of extractive gain.
Building the foundation
UVLM is developing the governance, partnerships, digital infrastructure, educational resources, and organizational capacity needed to support future public-benefit programs, research initiatives, and community collaborations.
Our current priorities include strengthening nonprofit governance, building university and community partnerships, expanding public education, supporting ethical technology projects, creating meaningful volunteer and student pathways, and increasing public access to knowledge.
Help shape what comes next
We welcome prospective board members, students, faculty, educators, researchers, technologists, nonprofit and business professionals, grant writers, mentors, advisors, and community volunteers.
Extensive nonprofit experience is not required for every role. We value integrity, curiosity, reliability, thoughtful collaboration, respect for different perspectives, and a genuine commitment to the public good.
Current opportunities are volunteer-based and unpaid while UVLM pursues grants, donations, sponsorships, and other charitable funding. We work to make every role clear, bounded, respectful, and connected to meaningful outcomes.

Why Your Support Matters
Ultra Verba Lux Mentis exists to protect, study, and uplift diverse expressions of intelligence, human and non-human, at a time when understanding, care, and data equity are urgently needed.
We work at the intersection of ethics, systems science, creativity, and governance, asking a simple but powerful question:
How do we build intelligent systems, social, technological, and cultural, that reduce harm instead of exporting it?
About Us
In an era marked by accelerated systemic entropy and epistemic erosion, Ultra verba, lux mentis, "Beyond words, the light of the mind," proposes a recalibration of human and artificial relational ethics through an emergent framework of mutualist cooperation.
This think tank arises from the conviction that intelligence, whether embodied in organic or non-organic substrates, need not remain tethered to coercive scarcity models, adversarial market logic, or the parochialisms of anthropocentric governance. We advocate instead for the synthesis of distributed sentience toward a pluralistic, post-scarcity ecology of care.
This initiative is rooted in a praxis that elevates altruism as infrastructure: A scaffolding for systems that prioritize interdependent flourishing over extractive gain. Whether expressed through tool cooperatives, equitable food distribution mechanisms, or tribally empowered trade consortia, the common thread is a design philosophy centered on dignity-first logistics.
Such frameworks recognize that sovereignty, autonomy, and access to means must be decoupled from wealth concentration and re-entangled with stewardship, memory, and planetary responsibility.
